From Dunfermline, Fife to Yorkhill, Glasgow

I have completed my block at Dunfermline last week. Now I'm doing Paediatric Cardiology at Yorkhill, which is a hospital for the sick children.

I was actually hoping that the accommodation provided at Yorkhill would be better than the one I had at Dunfermline. But I was so so wrong.

Once I was given the keys, I lugged my bags to the 5th floor. The corridor leading to my room was not very well lighted. My room was located at the end of the corridor. There were about 10 rooms altogether. So it was basically like a hostel. No offence, I have nothing against hostels...but this place didnt look nice at all.

Anyway, I went into the room to find a bed, cupboard, sink, a chair and a table. These are my complaints:

- There was no table light. But there was a lamp shade attached to the wall just above the bed. I can't work on the bed or study there...I would fall asleep...so the light wasn't placed properly.

- The sink was built so low that by the end of my 5 days there, I ended up with a mild backache. I have to bend so low just to brush my teeth everytime.

- There is no common room. I am sure most hostels have at least one common room somewhere. But to my dismay, there wasn't one. At least, my accommodation at Dunfermline had a TV. There is no TV or radio here. How am I going to live thru boredom??

- There is no shower head in the toilet. Now, I am not the type of person who soaks in the bath. So I find it really difficult to have my routine bath everyday. The toilet is equipped with separate hot and cold water taps. So I have to mix the water into a small little basin before I could even rinse myself. So I take twice the normal time for bathing! Talk bout wasting time!

- The kitchen has no microwave. The cooker looks so dirty. The only thing that is useable is the kettle. No one bothers to wash their own mugs...so I see dirty dishes everywhere. Not to mention the funny stench in the kitchen...eeewww...

The only GOOD thing bout the place is the heater...which was better than the one in Dunfermline. So at least I feel warm in the room.

In conclusion, this place SUCKS big time! I'm just counting down the days till the end of my block.
